Wiring Instructions
Follow these steps carefully to connect the BMS to your 4S LiFePo4 battery pack:
- Prepare Balance Wires: Before connecting the multi-pin balance cable to the BMS, ensure the individual wires are properly prepared. If necessary, pull the wires from the connector to facilitate individual cell connection.
- Connect B- Wire: Connect the main negative wire (B-) from the BMS to the total negative electrode of your 4S battery pack. Use a short, thick wire for this connection.
- Connect Balance Wires (BC0-BC3):
- BC0: Connect to the total negative pole of the battery (same as B-).
- BC1: Connect to the positive pole of the first cell (Cell 1+).
- BC2: Connect to the positive pole of the second cell (Cell 2+).
- BC3: Connect to the positive pole of the third cell (Cell 3+).
- BC4: Connect to the positive pole of the fourth cell (Cell 4+), which is also the total positive terminal of the battery pack.
- Verify Balance Wire Voltages: After connecting the individual balance wires, measure the voltage between each adjacent wire (e.g., BC0-BC1, BC1-BC2, etc.). For LiFePo4 batteries, each cell voltage should be less than 3.5V. If voltages are correct, insert the multi-pin balance cable into the BMS balance port.
- Connect NTC Temperature Sensor: Connect the external NTC temperature sensor to its designated port on the BMS. Position the sensor appropriately on the battery pack to monitor temperature.
- Connect C- Wire: Connect the negative pole of your charger and load to the C- terminal of the BMS. Use a thick wire for this connection. The B- and C- wires should be robust enough to handle the continuous current.
- Final Voltage Check: Measure the total voltage across the main output terminals of the BMS (B+ and C-). This voltage should be equal to the total voltage of your battery pack. If the voltages match, the protection board is correctly installed and should function normally.
